Las Vegas is well known for their gambling scene; however, there is a lot more to Las Vegas than Casinos. Of course people enjoy bar crawling, eating buffets, watching fancy shows, gambling their savings account away, and soaking up the sun on the main strip. Nevertheless, many people come up with all sorts of reasons for not visiting Las Vegas since it’s always portrayed as being a glitzy strip full of people losing money or being drunk. Letting one perhaps unattractive aspect about Las Vegas keep you from visiting is a mistake! Here are 10 fun filled activities to do while in Las Vegas:


1. Grand Canyon
Although it’s quite a few hours away, the Grand Canyon is a must see in life. Several tour companies offer day trips by bus or even helicopter. Renting a car and driving over for a few nights is also feasible. Once at the Grand Canyon, take the time to soak in the unrealistic natural beauty.

2. Hoover Dam
Once cant visit Las Vegas without visiting the world famous Hoover Dam.
You will find guided tours, a history museum, and plenty of walking paths to take in the view. All around the dam is a pretty view as well so bring your camera!

3. Lake Mead
After visiting the Hoover Dam stop by Lake Mead on your way back for some fun water activities. Either organize a trip at your hotel or go on your own for some time away from the glitz and glam of the strip.

4. Red Rock Canyon
Located right outside of the city, Red Rock Canyon is lovely area to take easy or strenuous hikes or bike rides at. With a small entrance fee, you can park your car and go out on an adventure. It’s best to go early since it gets quite hot out and remember to bring plenty of water!

5. Boulder City
As you drive over to the Hoover Dam, Boulder City is small town that you will pass on your way. It’s a quiet little city filled with locals. There is a main street that offers some nice restaurants and shops to stop at.

6. Get Golfing
There are several golf courses in Vegas including the well-known Shadow Creek. Many of the hotels are able to book day passes at one of the courses for you. Be sure to wear sunscreen and drink plenty of water!

7. Museums
There are several different museums in Vegas for you to check out. The Mob Museum displays various artifacts and history to describe the battle between law enforcement and organized crime. Madame Tussauds is also a popular museum depicting your favorite celebrities in real life wax figurines. The Neon Museum houses old casino signs and the Titanic museum showcases artifacts and history about the famous unsinkable ship.

8. Roller Coasters
At the New York Hotel you will find a thrilling roller coaster! This coaster is best taken in the evening so that you can enjoy a beautiful view of the strip at night. There is also a Ferris wheel located behind The Flamingo Hotel that is known for being the highest wheel in the world! The Stratosphere Tower Thrill Rides are located at the top of The Stratosphere Hotel as well. Here you will find the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States! If heights isn’t your thing than take a gondola ride at The Venetian Hotel.

9. Shows
There are several different shows to see in Vegas. There are always famous musicians performing that you can purchase tickets in advance for or you can go to a regular show like Excalibur’s Tournament of Kings, Cirque Du Soleil, magic shows, or stand up comedy and have a great time.

10. Food and Drinks
There are places all along the strip that provide a lovely view of the city too. If you aren’t into the crazy club scene, go early to relax. Several well known places include Marquee, Mandarin Bar, Mixx, and Voodoo. Amongst these are countless restaurants, buffets, and bars to enjoy.
