10 Most Famous Flight Attendants

The most famous flight attendants in the world made their infamy by either making a mark in history or becoming a celebrity. Several famous people started out as flight attendants, perceived as being a glamorous job if you will. Other flight attendants noted sadly became famous due to accident. Nonetheless, below is a list of the most famous flight attendants in the world.

 

 

  1. Carole Elizabeth Middleton

 

Mother of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, was previously a flight attendant before turning into a businesswoman. Carole worked for British Airways where she met her husband Michael Francis Middleton.

 

  1. Katherine Lee- Deltalina

 

Delta flight attendant Katherine Lee starred in Delta Airlines onboard safety video in 2008. She earned her nickname since she has Angelina Jolie’s cheekbones. The safety video quickly became popular and was used up until 2012. It was surprisingly one of the most watched YouTube videos right after its release.

 

  1. Steven Slater

 

This Jetblue flight attendant became famous when he actually decided to quit his job. After dealing with upset and irate customers, Slater decided to grab a few beers from the galley, blow the emergency exit slide, and zip on down into instant infamy, arrest, and unemployment. Slater actually drove all the way home before being arrested!

 

  1. Tod Herzog

 

Todd Herzog became famous for winning Survivor: China in 2007. He was also the second openly gay male contestant to win Survivor following the famous Richard Hatch. Before becoming famous on Survivor he worked for Skywest Airlines as a flight attendant. He has also been on the Dr. Phil show for alcoholism.

 

  1. Terri Welles

 

American actress and adult model, Terri Welles first appeared on the cover of the May 1980 edition of Playboy wearing a flight attendant costume. She was named playmate of the year in 1981.

 

  1. Neerja Bhanot

 

Neerja Bhanot was a flight attendant for Pan Am and based out of Mumbai India. She was murdered while saving passengers from terrorists on board a hijacked plane on Pan Am flight 73 back in 1986. She became the youngest recipient of India highest civilian aware for bravery known as Ashok Chakra.

 

  1. Ellen Church

 

Ellen Church became the first flight attendant in the United States! She was also a pilot but Boeing Air Transport wouldn’t hire her to fly. A woman of many talents, she was also a nurse. For several years, flight attendants would have to become nurses as well in order to be flight attendants. 

 

  1. Vesna Vulovic

 

Vesna Vulovic became famous for being a flight attendant who survived falling from 33,000 feet after the plane exploded in 1972. An on board bomb detonated while flying over Czechoslavkia, killing the other 27 passengers. While she did have major injuring resulting in her being paralyzed from the waist down, she continued to work for the airline but at a desk job. She was awarded a Guinness World Record in 1985 for “the highest falll without a parachute”. She continued to fly after the accident and several passengers always wanted to sit next to her on the plane.

 

  1. Johanna Sigurardottir

 

Known as a former politician and former Prime Minister of Iceland, Johanna Sigurardottir worked as a flight attendant for Loftleidir, Iceland’s main airline that came before Iceland air. She is also known to be the first female Prime Minister and the world’s first openly gay head of government.

 

  1. Kate Linder

 

Best known for her role as Esther Valentine on The Young and the Restless, Kate Linder is a famous actress who once was a flight attendant. After graduating college, Linder began working for Transamerica Airlines. Soon after, Linder landed a job with the famous soap opera and then continued working as a flight attendant but for United Airlines.
